What to Expect in 2010
Black Friday doorbusters have come and gone, it’s been a rough year but the economy is showing signs of improvement. In the meantime, it appears that consumers are buying more gadgets and gear to make their lives more fun, productive and meaningful. With CES around the corner, we expect to see continued growth and innovation in many consumer electronics categories.

  • New processors offering higher performance and longer battery life will grow sales for laptops, netbooks, and other mobile devices.
  • Smartphone apps and improved wireless connectivity will fuel mobile device market.
  • Good values in LCD TVs and Internet connected TVs will create added demand for HDTV. HDTV add-ons will be big part of TV sales. We expect HDTVs to outperform the broader market in 2010.
  • Interest in 3DTV will grow but products and programming may lag.
  • Lower priced Blu-ray players with streaming ability will help motivate consumers to upgrade their old DVD players.
  • Digital cameras will maintain stable prices and steady sales.
  • Amazon’s Kindle will see some competition and e-Book reader sales will climb
