This weekend those with a love for all things robot will descend on San Francisco to take part in the RoboGamesF.K.A. Robot Olympics. Geeks, Dweebs, Droids and Bots will face off in over 70 events, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners receiving gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively. Robots that defy categorization can compete in "Best In Show"while under 18-builders get their shot in Junior League Events.
If you're not into the mechanics behind these electronic competitors, you can still marvel at their awesome creepiness and the even more awesomely creepy people who built them. Or at least you can take comfort in the fact that, no matter how lonley you get, your loneliness has never necessitated the building of a robot to play checkers with you.
Must see events (in my humble opinion):Fire-Fighting (how cool is that?!) andWoots& Snarks (What the hell...?). But be on the lookout for a group of people who always try to stage their own star wars convention.
