New 3D Products on Display at CTIA 2011

As we mentioned last week, the proposed AT&T/T-Mobile merger (will the new name be AT&T&T) was the topic of discussion at the CTIA show last week but we also picked up on some new smartphone announcements that illustrated an emerging trend which is smartphones with 3D autostereoscopic (no glasses required) displays. We even read that the president of HTC predicted that 3D phones will outsell 3DTVs.

Sprint EVO 3D

Two 5MP cameras capture high resolution 3D images for play back on the glasses-free display or your 3DTV. It has a big 1730 mAh battery, a microSD slot, and the usual sensors and high-end features. It even has an FM radio.

Besides the Sprint EVO 3D, WiMAX phone, Sprint announced the View 4G 7-inch tablet that may be running Honeycomb when it goes on sale this summer. No pricing was announced but we imagine it will be in the $300 - $400 range with a contract. This is basically a WiMAX version of the HTC Flyer.

The LG Thrill 4G Also Does 3D

The HTC EVO 3D is not the only smartphone with a glasses-free 3D display. AT&T will be selling the LG Thrill this spring. It will presumably only support HDSP+ which is more 3.5G than 4G. It has a 3D camera and a large 4.3-inch display.
