There are many ways to make your life greener; you can add solar panels to your house, you can buy a hybrid car, or you can recycle all your paper and plastics. You can also use electronics to make your life greener.
One of the first things we’d recommend is to get a feel for what is using the most energy in your house. One of the best tools for this is a watt meter like P3 International’s Kill A Watt. When you are doing your energy audit note how much any device uses when it's supposedly turned off to identify sources of heavy standby power users. You may be surprised by how much “phantom” power something like a microwave uses when it’s not running. Belkin offers a power strip that turns off power to anything connected to its remote controlled outlets.
