New Gadgets Coming This Summer
Apple’s WWDC has come and gone with no word of a new iPhone, CES 2012 is 7 months away and summer is just beginning, so what’s hot aside from the weather? Here are some cool gadgets we expect to see make an appearance this summer.
Vizio Tablet Could Offer Lower Priced Alternative
Vizio, who has reputation for offering quality TVs at very competitive prices, is rumored to have a tablet coming to market soon. The word is the VTAB1008 has cleared FCC approval and is on its way to market. Supposedly, it runs Android, has an 8-inch display, HDMI and USB connectors, and may be priced as low as $349. Will we see them show up at Costco this summer?
Sony 3D Projector for
Sony just announced a recent addition to its SXRD (Silicon X-TAL Reflective Display) which claims to offer a brighter, 240 Hz, 3D picture that can be viewed with active shutter glasses. The VPL-HW30ES projector will be available in July for $3699.
New Sony Alpha Camera
The new Sony Alpha NEX-3 is a compact APS-C format camera with a lot of lens. The 16 MP camera is small and light and claims 400 shots on a battery charge. It will be available in August with an 18 – 55mm lens for around $650.
Toshiba Thrive Tablet Now Available for Preorder The new Toshiba 10-inch (1280 x 800), Honeycomb tablet with a Tegra 2 dual core processor, USB ports (micro and full-sized) and replaceable battery is available for preorder on Amazon for $430. It ships on July 10th.
HP TouchPad Due July 1st In case you missed the big announcement last February, the HP/Palm TouchPad tablet is about to ship. It runs WebOS which is a very innovative operating system but the big question is whether or not developers will port their iPhone and Android apps to it. You can take a chance on July 1st when you can buy a 16GB version for around $500.
