| Finally, a smartphone that is going to give the iPhone a little competition! Verizon will be introducing the Droid (cute name, huh?) as early as October 30th. So far the specs and early reports look good. A Boy Genius hands on reports generated 499 comments so far. The Droid looks a little like an iPhone, it’s about the same size and shape but it includes a landscape mode slide out keyboard. As we like to say, it’s the apps that sell smartphones and if anyone has a chance of competing with the 85,000 iPhone apps it’s Android and the open source community. Two big advantages right out of the gate will be the Verizon network over AT&T and the fact that Droid can multi-task which the iPhone can’t do.
