Software QA Architect and Manager
The SQA Architect is an experienced QA professional and a hands-on Test Engineering architect experience in the consumer web services, who knows and cares about what the consumers want from our service -- and willing to stand up for it!
As the person responsible for the SQA and Test/Release Engineering of a high traffic and fast moving Web 2.0 portal, you must be agile, proactive and comfortable working with ambiguous specifications. You need to have the passion to find bugs and the creativity to define efficient and effective ways to test dynamic and data centric web systems. You must be able to prioritize on the fly and possess strong organizational and leadership skills to be successful. Your strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to motivate people and instill accountability to achieve results will be critical success factors in delivering the requisite software quality efficiently and cost effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that software and data quality meets and exceeds internal standards and user expectations from a high traffic web portal.
- Working closely with Development, Product Management and the Operations team to test and release new products/feature and hot fixes.
- Develop comprehensive QA and Test Engineering capabilities that addresses all aspects of testing– functional, regression, performance and usability.
- Define and manage the development and execution of testing strategies, test cases and test tools.
- build and lead highly productive and motivated QA and test engineering team.
- Integrate best practice QA methodologies to support Agile development methodology.
Qualifications / Required Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance and Test Engineering.
- A strong and verifiable 7+ years track record experience in Internet industry developing, executing and automating test plans/suites for back-end and front-end systems with complete understanding of Internet technologies (e.g., HTTP, web browsers and servers, cookies, HTML, JavaScript, etc.)
- 3+ years experience in building, leading and managing QA and Test Engineering, including offshore teams.
- Expert at SQA methodologies, tools and approaches (black box, white box and automated testing).
- Experience in all stages of software quality assurance testing, including functional, integration, performance and operational testing.
- SQA, development or systems engineering experience in high traffic, large scale web portal, search engine and/or high volume data processing workflows.
- Expertise and strong hands-on experience in test automation and extensive knowledge of industry standard test automation framework and tools.
- Experience in and working knowledge of SQL to identify test data and validate results.
- Experience in diagnosing and resolving production issues.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial, web-savvy, software architect level, managing director to lead, guide and grow Retrevo’s offshore development center in India, comprising software development, QA and data management.
You will work closely with Retrevo’s R&D team in US to develop the system and feature requirements into software designs for our fast evolving, consumer focused web site, with advanced portal and search capabilities. You will guide and drive the development and QA of both new and sustaining software development efforts by the offshore team. You will apply state-of-the-art technologies and practices along side the agile software development process. In parallel, you will build and drive a highly productive data management team that delivers high quality data.
You must have worked extensively in both US and in India, to ensure effective communications between the US and the India teams, and to motivate and cultivate highly effective offshore engineering teams that can function independently and yet is closely coordinated with the US team.
Skills and knowledge:
