Macworld Expo is a
The mood at Macworld Expo was upbeat this year. The show is largely about iPad accessories, apps, developer services and a bunch of other cool stuff. Unlike CES, Macworld Expo is a selling show with vendors hawking products and offering deep discounts. A couple of people I ran into remarked how fast you could see the show. It took up very little space and you could pretty much cover it in a couple of hours.
No Shortage of iPad Holders
It looks like there is a perception that the iPad is hard to hold onto to. We saw lots of variations of holders and stands.
Two Innovative Stands Funded From KickStart Investments
KickStart, the funding site famous for helping to fund the TikTok iPod Nano watch band also helped fund two new companies who were showing off their stands at the expo. The Glif is a clever iPhone stand and holder that you can use to attach an iPhone to a tripod. It only costs $20.
Another interesting stand is the PadPivot that is easy to carry around and handy for holding an iPad in different positions.
Sinbad Buys an iPad Stand
A company named Rain Design was showing and selling a nice looking stand for iPads. The comedian Sinbad was so impressed he purchased one on the spot.
Attach Your Phone to Your Car's Air Vent
A company named Tetrax was showing a magnetic holder for your phone in the car. Here's a demo and explanation about the special magnet they use.
Mac Legend Comments
on the Show
If you were around for the hay day of the Mac you have to remember BMUG (Berkeley Mac User Group). They were one of the largest and most influential Mac user groups in the country. Raines Cohen was one of the founders.
