Big Flat Screen TVs That Could Break Your Wall (or Floor)

These big screen, high def TVs may look great in LCD or Plasma TV reviews, offering great image quality on huge screens, but you may need to reinforce your wall or floor as well as hire a couple of beefy techs to install one of these HDTVs. Plasma TVs tend to be a bit heavier because of all the glass while RPTVs are usually bulkier. Larger LCD TVs can weigh up to 165 lbs but are probably the best bet for easy installation. Here’s a list of some heavyweight contenders:

The heavyweight champ of TVs at the moment is the 103 inch Panasonic TH-103PF9UK Plasma TV. The question is: do you have a spare $64,000 to buy it?
Not an LCD or Plasma TV, but still hefty, the Sanyo PLC XR70N 70 inch rear projection TV comes in a big package. It will cost you over $8,000 and tips the scale at a little over 300 lbs.
The 63 inch Samsung HP-R6372 Plasma TV weighs just under 200 lbs and costs a mere $3500.

LG 71PY1M   A little lighter than the Samsung with a bigger screen to boot, is the LG 71PY1M. It’s a $12,000, 71 inch Plasma TV that weighs 191 lbs.
Sony BRAVIA KDL-70XBR3   The heaviest contender in the LCD division is the 165 lb. Sony BRAVIA KDL-70XBR3 70 inch LCD TV that has a hefty price tag to match. It will cost you around $28,000.
Sharp PN-G655

The Sharp PN-G655 is a 65 inch LCD TV that weighs a reasonable 143 lbs but will set you back around $10,000.

Now that’s you’ve seen the heaviest, maybe it’s time to find the one that really works for your home. Check out the Retrevo Product Advisor for the best values in HDTV.
