I barely go over negative 20db and still get rich bass and overall sound...The speakers sound so good that the power and quality limitations of the receiver are apparent for those occasions (when my wife isnt home) when I put on my favorite tunes and crank the volume...Remember, I was totally clueless at the outset of this adventure.)

I have had 3 pair of these speakers since 1999...I have 4 VI-38's for my front and rear speakers combined with a Polk TC265I in-wall center and an Infinity BU-1 sub-woofer...This $1000 set of speakers sounds as good as my brother's all Polk $3200 set...
