The MFC-6490CW does A3 print, scan and copy, but the MFC-5890CN is a halfway house, with A3 print, but only an A4 scanner...This means an A3 printer only needs a carriage 1.41x wider, and Brother makes good use of this by building an all-in-one which isn’t monstrous on the desktop...Its black and silver livery makes it look a bit tank-like too...Brother makes...

More or less because in this model, the MFC-5890CN, A3 support only extends to printing...As you might expect with the larger paper capacity, this is not a small machine...If most of your work is A4 or smaller, the tray doesn't project from the front of the MFC-5890CN at all...Brother doesn't seem to have worked out yet where connecting sockets are conventionally...
