Speed...Quality (Only a small disadvantage)...The canon CanoScan 8800f is a near perfect scanner...If you want a scanner that is quick and easy to use this is for you......

The cons i can think of at the moment is it would be nice if it had a LONG usb cable adaptor, but considering i placed the unit about 10 feet away, that's longer that probably any product has a cable for...Although Canon doesn't advertise that the 8800F can be set to scan black and white negatives, it does have setting to do so: and I must say that the scans of my black and white...
I purchased this scanner after reading many positive reviews here and on other sites in spite of it's "low" price...Price isn't too bad Well the biggest con would have to be Dust under the lens...Scanned into Word 97, Word 2007 and Acrobat Professional with good results...
The CANON8800F produces the best scans of music I have yet seen...The others were good, but Buy.com is the best...Scanning of print photos is simple and quick and resolution and color-depth is very good...
