Given that the maximum resolution of HP's new ScanJet N8460 is 600dpi, it must be the second of these that's relevant here...For a start, the ScanJet N8460 is huge...The ADF is 130mm high on its own, which seems much higher than it need be, given that it only handles up to 100 sheets at a time...There's plenty of heavyweight software supplied with the ScanJet N8460...
BUT there are some power issues with the ADF that cause communication errors with the computer...HP tech acknowledges that the problem has show up on SOME of ADF units on this model as well as the 8390...Currently the only fix is a product exchange...
