I have had bad dealings with the consumer line Pavilions, but was pressured into trying out a business class notebook by my office’s computer hardware & service provider, a local tech shop...The HP/Compaq Business Class notebooks are all about a professional external appearance, and the nw9440 certainly doesn’t slouch from that standard...
The nw9440's screen is fully anti-glare, with no sign of a trendy high-gloss finish to distract you with spurious reflections...Despite being a bit of a powerhouse, we didn't find the nw9440 was particularly hot or noisy under light use, although firing up the 3D adaptor inevitably made the fans kick in and work harder...Neither company yet has anything to match the nw9440's...
First off, its one of the only notebooks out there with a quadro fx 1500m in it, its the OpenGL optimized 7900GS at its core, the only difference is driver support...Plus extras like number pad, memory card reader and finger print reader...I *almost* bought an inspiron - so glad I did not...
This review concerns HP and this computer; NOT the seller, with whom I have no disagreement...The Motorola SM56 modem on that dog was so bad it NEVER would connect at more than 28.8K ( this computer is a Compaq Presario R4010T which gets 36-44K, generally 38.8K on the IDENTICAL line...Completely reinstalled Vista from the recovery partion and went all but suicidely insane from another round...
