The minus on the Hitachi DX-GX20A design is that it?s not the most attractive of camcorders...Picture quality is pretty good and more akin to a mid-priced MiniDV camcorder than a DVD camcorder...The still photos weren?t the best but not bad for a camcorder and the built-in flash helped illuminate the area...What you get with the HitachiDZ-GX20a is a solid DVD camcorder...
The company has four DVD-based camcorders in 2005, with the DZ-GX20A the proverbial top-of-the-line...It’s really amazing, how much smaller the new fifth generation DVD camcorders are compared to their pioneering cousins...Overall, the DZ-GX20A is rather button-free and is not intimidating...The next bummer is on Page 20 of the manual...

As with any new medium, the dvd-cam format takes time to learn about and understand...The sound clarity was very good and sensitive over moderate distance...And for the price I think it is a very usable product...
Lot's of bells and whistles Hard to x-fer onto DVD...I bought the optional software, etc, but still couldn't get it to work, gave up...Before you buy one of these DVD camcorders, make sure the media is easy to find, and inquire on how you x-fer the recording onto DVD...
