Although it could still use a little spit and polish, JVC's 160GB DR-MH30S is a fun PVR and DVD recorder...Theoretically you can get up to 272 hours on the hard disk at the lowest Free Rate mode, although we wouldn't recommend it...The management interface for the stored video was quite good, although it was a little slow to respond at times...

Overall this is a good recorder with a ton of space on the hard drive for all of the shows I used to record on S-VHS tapes...Other than that small issue I would recommend this recorder...I always recorded in "XP" mode on the Panasonic, and "SP" mode on the JVC looks just as good if not better...
