Like its ancestors, the EZ200 makes a ko-dak sound when the shutter is pressed and an image captured (which is how the company got its name...The EZ200 is a bargain if you want a still camera and a Web camera in one device, but it's not our first choice for a standalone still camera...The EZ200 makes an excellent Webcam, though...The EZ200 generally adapts well to lighting...
Thanks to its 640-by-480-pixel CCD sensor, the EZ200 generally produces color images superior to those produced by the CMOS-based Webcams we reviewed, and comparable to the other CCD units...In videoconferencing tests, the quality of the streaming video was very good: Images displayed rich color and reasonably sharp details, although some jerkiness was evident when using a low-bandwidth connection...
Anyone who buys the EZ200 as a digital still camera is going to be very disappointed...It's true that the EZ200 offers a resolution of 640x480 pixels, but that doesn't translate into a usable 640x480 image...And the EZ200's 640x320 resolution sounds fine for most Web and on-screen use, doesn't it...
