It was on sale for about 1000 which was pretty good for a 42 inch plasma tv.I too had not heard of Maxent much before, but the quality and price was undeniable...Amazon always has good prices, so if you find one on sale here I would get it...My family and I have been very happy with this product and would definitely recommend it to anyone...

I have a samsung upconverting DVD player connected via HDMI and I dare say it looks 99% as good as the blue ray player paired with a panasonic plasma I saw at bestbuy...I bought this set for $799 at a Christmas sale only because the price was too good to pass up...The sound is not bad but it's much better with a quality sound system...
