Overall the camera is also a pleasure to use due to the well thought out menus, the large, bright viewfinder, and the excellent screen...I don't really give any thought to going up to 800, and even 1600 can yield good prints without noticeable grain if there are no large shadow areas...Plus the rectangles are so small it is hard to find a good area to place it over...
The software is useful, and mine came with Corel Paint Pro 9, a very good image editor...Over the years we have accumulated a good collection of glass and while we recognized we would have to migrate from film eventually, we hesitated (actually resisted) because of the value of our glass...What it comes down to is how the camera FEELS in your hands as you use it...and the D3 just feels good...
