Too bad it is out of stock often...This remote control is made in China so it probably costs them a couple bucks to make (thanks to the unregulated sweatshops in China!), and they would have generated a lot of good will among Nikon owners and potential SLR buyers...As a D70 owner, I found this little device invaluable and would recommend it to anyone...

IQ is excellent, good and accurate metering, a bit more conservative than D40(others would say D40 tends to overexposure...Overall still a very nice cam and no "old fart" today, except for the buffer size and JPEG output...I think the D50 has better high ISO JPEG capabilities, but I never thought the D70 was that bad, in its day...

Both offer some features the other doesn't, and I'd recommend you investigate both thoroughly to see what fits your needs...The white balance is generally very good even in auto mode, much better than Canon, actually...Two seemingly small things I really like are the CR3 lithium battery holder (great if your rechargable battery goes bad and all you can find are regular camera batteries) and the plastic...
