The camera has a NICE brushed metal feel to it...I used tons of settings (much to my friends' frustration) to try to find a good setting and I didn't find one...This could have been a bad camera but just in case you buy this and have the same issues, you'll know it's not just you :) I bought the S10 mainly because it reminded of my much loved Coolpix 990...
