Bottom line we were both floored at what a phenomenal deal this kit is for the price...This really is an excellent value, and while the 14-45 lens isn't bad (it's very good outdoors), the 40-150 lens is fantastic...this price BTW is much cheaper than upgrading to comparable lenses of competitors like canon and Nikon - remember, you're going to have to do it no matter which camera you buy if you want...

iso 800 is not good, noise is too much USB 1.1, quite slow I have had the E500 for 2 years...Excellent camera for hobby! + easy to use menu rich features clear & large LCD screen good contruction The press buttons around the "OK" one stick sometimes...The automatic focusing is consistently good and I cannot improve on this manually or with the focus bracketing feature...
It takes very good high quality photos and the 2 memory card slots are great for extended sessions...The kit lenses are not bad, but investing in a nice macro (Zuiko makes a 35mm f/2 and a 50mm f/2) and wide-angle will be worth the money...It's good for hikes if you want something more than a point-'n-shoot but don't want to lug around a larger DSLR...
