The camera did well on our daylight test shots, looking much sharper than its pixel-transition scores might have led us to expect, with good contrast and lots of data throughout the dynamic range...The image showed good detail, reasonable but not outstanding sharpness, and good contrast...
This is my ultimate "resolution shot," given the infinite range of detail in a natural scene like this, and the DMC-FZ15 does an excellent job with it, clearly delivering a top-tier performance for its four-megapixel resolution class...In-camera sharpening does a good job here, with crisp details throughout the frame, but very little evidence of halos or other sharpening artifacts...About...
The DMC-FZ15 boasts a high quality 12x, 6-72mm telescoping Leica zoom lens (equivalent to a 35-420mm lens on a 35mm camera...Very impressive indeed, if the FZ15's aperture readout on the LCD actually accurately represents what the lens optics themselves are doing...I've occasionally seen other digicams that let you adjust focus manually after the camera's autofocus...
The operation manual is not as good as camera, but the good news you can download it from the service.us.panasonic.c...It is not bad at all, just the camera is too good! Those issues are solvable with the help of the software...I’d also recommended including the AC ADAPTER/CHARGER (DMW-CAC1) into the box – it would be much more useful than included SD card! This camera is so good...
The noise is so bad in darker areas that it makes the camera almost worthless if you are shooting at or above ISO 100...4MP is more than enough to get you a good 8 x 10, and the 4 x 6's are excellent...The noise doesn't seem nearly as bad as people let on...
I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST THIS CAMERA FOR ANYONE WANTING A GOOD QUALITY CAMERA...It is easy to use, feels good, and has a reassuring thunk when you take a picture, even if it is only a recording of an SLR that is heard when you snap the photo...This is a camera worth more than it costs and can be recommended without hesitation...
