Lots of features and overall quality make it a good value buy...Fiddly controls and poor software...All in all I found the HDC-DX1 very comfortable to operate...The HDC-DX1 comes with a 12x optical zoom that should be sufficient for most needs...Optical zoom refers to the power of the lens to bring an image closer without any loss in overall quality...Recorded movie clips...
Shiny HD movies...Huge screen....Waiting to format and finalise DVDs....A standard blank DVD holds less than 15 minutes of 1080i footage...On the downside, this weighs even more than Sony's AVCHD camera, the 30GB SR1, and although stills are fine, Panasonic should dump the photo flash for a video light, because night-time movies are disappointing......
The HDC-DX1 is also quite a bit less sleek and compact than its SD/SDHC sibling...The HDC-DX1 itself has some tough questions to answer, but its native AVCHD codec may be its most pressing problem of all...Want to know what would happen if you took Panasonic’s HDC-SD1 and fed it ample amounts of NFL-grade steroids...Actually, the DX1 doesn’t...

The quality of the image is terrific!! The camera is also easy to operate...Directly burn into the DVD rom kept the quality of the image,better than transfer to the computer...Mounting a flash on the side of the lens instead of on top or underneath is a problem that you get uneven lighting...
Awesome High Def home movies! The 5.1 surround sound - (why did they not keep this on the 2nd generation?) EZ to navigate screens w/ toggle mouse 3"" wide LCD screen EZ to find scenes/pics...You can't record video to the SD/SDHC card...aparently the HDC-SD1 would have been a smarter buy for me...
