Big Leica zoom lens
Sharp, generously sized widescreen LCD...Terrible low-light performance
Rubbish still images...This model certainly produces punchy colours - it's particularly good with reds and blues - but it still can't match the detail you'll get from a much cheaper MiniDV 'corder, such as Panasonic's ?400 NV-GS35...Ultimately, MPEG-2 recording just isn't good...

Now Panasonic is hitting back with a much more mature device, the SDR-S100...Maximum still image size is 2,048 x 1,512 but, while colour fidelity fell behind the JVC, overall contrast was slightly better...Video performance in good lighting was nothing short of awesome, with superb colour fidelity, clear contrast and plenty of detail...
