Pentax though are trying to break this mould with the PentaxOptio S...We put the Optio S to the test...Outside and you would be easily forgiven in thinking that the Optio S had been smuggled out of technology camp from East Germany as the metal housing has a spherical grooving in it and this makes for an interesting touch when you handle it...Even at a Moloko gig...
The Optio S4 has a 3x zoom, 5.8-17.4mm lens, the equivalent of a 35-105mm lens on a 35mm camera, just like its predecessor, the Optio S...It loses some sharpness at closer shooting distances and the corners of its images are a little soft, but overall there seem to have been fewer trade-offs made than in many subcompact models I've seen...A maximum of 4x digital zoom is available...

If you can find this camera for a good price (I got mine at walmart.com with a free memory card, tripod, case for $245 after rebate...Good quality and reliability! Excelent for people that are on the move...If your're looking for something compact with excellent photo quality, I highly recommend this camera...
For good or bad, the camera uses 4 AA batteries...Pentax has a good selection of lenses, but not up there with the likes of Canon and Nikon...The 18-55mm lens is really good for a kit lens...
I would recommend K100D to any one who wants a entry level DSLR...While I studied the pictures, I noticed that quite a few of them are blurry not from bad focusing, but from camera shake...In the end, I chose the Pentax K100D because of good reviews, low prices, and the shake-reduction function built into the camera body (the CCD sensor moves to compensate for the hand movement...
