The only thing that it isn't good for is music (especially rap...It probably is good for acoustic music because it's surround sound...the sound quality and setup was very good...
If your sound card only has analog surround sound output, this is not for you! It has 2 optical inputs, 1 coaxal digital input, 1 stero input, (and I think) has 1 input for DVD player which is the regular RCA style...For $100 it works and sounds great! I'm sure more expensive systems would sound better, but this one is very good and cheap...Find a unit that sounds good to you in store, then go online...
Overall, I feel the HTS-GS1 offers the most bang for the buck...The bottom line, this Pioneer system is a very high quality product that WILL EXCEED the average electronic consumers expectations, and therefore is worth every penny of the purchase price...Its got lots of good features that pricier units lack...
