The 7200i is neat, compact, and simple to use and yet is equipped with enough resolution to get extremely large files should you require them...Connection is USB2.0 ? there?s a single port on the back of the scanner ? and via a supplied USB cable...Scans are good rather than great but with up to 48-bit bit depth capability offering "trillions" of colours and with a respectable scan...
If you have lots of slides and 35-mm negatives to digitize, the Plustek OpticFilm 7200 probably sounds like the scanner you've been waiting for...To scan, you mount up to four slides (or a strip of film) in a carrier and slide the carrier into a slot on the scanner's side...
I am very happy with my purchase and recommend it to any photographer who has slides that need to be archived...I thought electronics were supposed to be going down in price! But never mind that, I'm not reviewing the price but the product and it is good...One piece of advice, get some compressed air! The scanner is very good and will scan all the hair and other small debris on the slides...
Do not know of any pros other than most of the Internet chatter was positive...Basically, with this, you're going to want to have a program that you can do photoediting to take good advantage of, since you'll get dust and scratches that Silverfast can't fix...There are some good free ones out there (Gimpshop) to finalize any touchups, but Silverfast in and of itself allows some great control one you've...
To be honest, I expected much more from a German make...The dust and scratch filters are not as good as I expected, but hey, how can you really expect anything to recognize such things, let alone wipe them out without any effort...In general, I am very pleased...
