Recordings look quite good, especially at the 1 or 2 hour speeds...The 8 hour picture isn't much good for anything except maybe timeshifting daytime soaps, but since discs are dropping in price so quickly most people will use the better quality modes for keepsake material anyway...A list a recommended brands is included with the manual...
I highly recommend this machine for anyone who has home videos to convert to DVD...The eight hour speed is very poor quality, so I don't recommend using this speed...The four hour speed is a good all around speed...
I figured it was a bad piece of media so I didn't give it much thought...There is always a chance of having multiple bad media and maybe I was a victim of that...I'm no down to the second freak, but I do expect a recorder's clock to keep good time (within a couple of minutes) for 6 months or so until it needs to be reset...
