For DVDs (I connect via component video), the picture and sound are fabulous! For TV (I have DirecTV connected via S-Video), the picture is good, but can be grainy when you sit 10-12 feet away (where I'm sitting now...I researched lots of similar TVs (LCD projection and DLP projection) and I highly recommend this set...Although picture on old TV (54") was very good, it was blown away by 6163 Version...

DVD players without good cables connecting using component or higher connection were also poor...I definitely recommend it, it's worth it's weight in gold (unless you want to go blind...very good, not great sound - use yo Remote is OK, use another universal remote if you can for the basics...
I would highly recommend this TV...1 contrast (higher is better), DVI, HDMI, RGB as well as 2 component video input options, 3rd generation TI DLP chip and 7 segment color wheel, and of course, size of screen...I tried another new DVD player with only the component output without the automatic upconvert of the video and the picture was not very good...
