It is a rear-projection system, which means that the viewing angle isn't as good as plasma or front projecton...Horizontal viewing angle is pretty good due to the screen, but vertical viewing is not that great...Zoom1 is close, but you still crop top/bottom a bit] Overall it's a great TV...
Went with the 5689S rather than the 5687S because the salesman took so much off the price I couldn't pass it up...I tested the TV's sound and found it to be acceptable for normal everyday viewing...I will post an updated review in 30 days...
When I wanted to move to a 56" TV, I did lots of research...I found out that Samsung actually makes Sony's screens, among other things...I compared the 2 side by side, and there was no comparison! I love my 56" Samsung 1080p LED TV...
