The MX-500 might be aimed at the iPod market, but are they worth replacing for...The MX-500 are aimed at the iPod market (yes, they're white) and as a replacement for the ones shipped with Apple's world-conquering gadget they are a very affordable option...The sound was impressive too, but this wasn't much of a shock, as I've not yet heard a bad pair of Sennheisers...Prolonged...

For a good, albeit "unusual" reference recording, I recommend "Book of Roses" by Andreas Vollenweider...Not to mention, that talk radio never sounded so good as well...I also very highly recommend the Sangean DT-210V, as a great "headset" radio, that just happens to have a handy build in speaker, that's clean...
Overall, Mx 500 is good choice for beginner or somebody who looks for the good sound with good price...I would recommend MX500 over Sony/Panasonic earbud at the price range of $20-$40 because they are much clearer sounding overall and you can't beat the price tag, $16 shipped from amazon, i acutally got it for $9.99 shipped Excellent audio quality...I don't hear the good bass sound that...
when properly driven they sound great for the price need a good amp/driver to sound good (or not sound bad) These "cans" are getting unfair reviews...Granted that, as most people are saying, they can sound very boomy, muddy, and have too much bass, to a very large extent there is a good reason for this...they sounded awful! It wasnt until I listened to these headphones through a studio quality sound...
