The movie mode is incredible, slightly better than a web cam, and the microphone is suprisingly good...good enough for a concert! We bought a sony computer around the same time and we were very happy (and mindful) of the media stick input in our computer...The lens is good enough (as good as all the others, except the one with the Zeiss lens) the LCD screen is big enough, the shooting modes...
4) Good selection of features, which are easy to access...All in all, I can live with the cons and highly recommend the camera...For its price, for now I think you'll have a hard time finding something as good...
Still for outdoor shooting and flash shots, it is really good and it has served us well for vacations! I've had this camera for several years and taken it all over Europe...Auto focus isn't always reliable, and I've missed some pics, but I've also gotten some astonishingly good pictures...Of course with the limited features we can't really do much, but i think it is good for a beginner to start with...
