From a long distance, it looks good, but from up close there are tons of compression artifacts and faces are hardly recognizable...bad enough for me not to be able to use it as intended (yes, that was watching soccer :-) If you like spending time getting badly documented gadgets to work, only to be surprised by the low quality of the outcome, then I would highly recommend it...It also wouldn't be bad...
The picture quality is not good...Plus the $50 mail-in-rebate from Sony now, the $249 is really a good deal for it that sells $349 almost everywhere including SonyStyle.com...I don't use very much the included PC client, but only tested it out, the video quality on my compaq AMD x64 laptop with UWXGA screen looks not as good as on PSP, or the free orb streaming client...
I am still looking for a good waterproof PSP case with an earphone jack extension like some folks are doing for MP3 players...I can't be the only person who thinks that a good waterproof gear bag with a headphone extension is a good idea, though...That's not all that bad for a handheld device with an internal antenna and a brick wall between the base and the PSP at about a 50' distance...
