Bottom line, if your looking for a DVD Recorder to replace your VCR, this most likely isn't the unit...The playback quality is not quite as good as that of our Sony DVP-NS725P DVD player...I chose to give it 4 since the quality, for the money, is very good in my opinion...

Don't forget that the quality of your recorded material is only as good as the signal coming in...so if you use the built in tuner or composite input to record, and you have the unit connected to your tv via component cables, you'll still be seeing all the noise...Does anyone know of a good DVR-Recorder that will work with my DIRECTV and DVR...Their only good product on the market is the Playstation...
My final point with this machine is that I have never had a bad burn...Overall, I say this recorder is quite capable...I work with audio and video as a profession, and I wouldn't consider recommending this unit to anyone...
