I started looking for a good budget Subwoofer...I stuck the sub between my main speakers in the middle of the room -- positioned all wrong, and it still sounds good...Next, I tried to find a DVD with a good LFE track...
When I bought the VelodyneCT-100, I though it was a fantastic sub, when used with my Magnepan MMG speakers...It had good output, didn't sound too boomy, and helped to deliver the "punch" in DVD movies...I did find that I had to adjust the volume on the sub frequently (when switching from music to movies), and I didn't care for the humming on the sub's internal...
I have heard a lot of the subs out there in the 10" range...When the Velodyne showed the same scene I felt like I was on the tarmack 100 yards away from the space shuttles...My only compaint is that the sub comes with these 4 little rubber footpads that you are supposed to stick on the bottom...
