The ViewSonicVP171b has been recently upgraded from a 16ms panel to an 8ms one...Anyway, I am not here to comment on the motion sensitivities of one person?s eyes in comparison to another?s, but rather to assess the overall performance of this latest 17in incarnation from ViewSonic?s successful Professional Series range...However, what I will say now is that at the time of writing...
With physical adjustments including tilt, height, and swivel, ViewSonic's VP171b is comfortable to work with...Thanks to a thin bezel, the VP171b also works neatly in a dual-monitor setup...In our display quality tests, the VP171b didn't stand out...A few testers noted a pink screen cast, which may have contributed to the display's so-so graphics rating of Good...Despite...
But the bad news is the quality of the TFT panel...Banding in the colour and greyscale ramps also hampered the VP171b's chances...Although the actual range covered was good, there were noticeable vertical bands as the screen struggled to switch intensities...

I have had to return it sometimes twice b/c the one they shipped me back went bad again...Seems to have a bad nack of just dying or having just enough dead pixels so that its ugly but not enough to send in...Good luck to the buyers of this product in the future...
However I have to pay shipping to get it to Viewsonic for warranty repair/replacement; that is not good service...We shall see, however I would not recommend this monitor nor would I buy another after my initial experience with it and the company...The base is very stable, which is good because even though the monitor has a thin screen, it still has some heft to it...
I read reviews about LCDs not being quite as good as CRTs but decided to go with the LCD anyway...Fast, good looking (to a screen novice at least) 5 of the 15 we purchased turn off unexpectedly and don't come back on for awhile w/o toggling on/off...We have sent 3 of 5 in for warranty and after a month have not received the monitors back!!! Too bad looks can be so deceiving...
