If I remember correctly, I also bought this unit because it was one of the first to offer DTS at this price...Easy for the average person to use effectively...if you want to pay an entry level price for a well above average reciever then this looks to be a solid investment...
While overall I agree with your assessment of the value of this receiver, I have discovered a rather fatal flaw in the design...When I bought this a couple of years ago I went to a big name store (withheld because of the experience) and was shown the Yamaha complete setup that came with this receiver, a nice DVD player and a 5.1 set of Yamaha speakers...
