I would recommend the yamahs to a friend with a SMALL named stereo or a stereo no more than 100 watts.I am a 14 year old with a taste for bass...highly recommended no need to spend more unless you have special requirements or a pro audiophile etc...Sony make good speakers and tvs but nothing involving sound...
Totally get my recommendation!!! Try the Santana 5.1 DVD and get blown away...I would definitely NOT recommend these speakers for a stereo receiver (because the lack of bass) but I would definitely recommend them for a A/V receiver with a sub woofer...I bought these to replace some old mission model 70's and I must say they sound pretty dam good for 50 clams...
They handle tons of power, it can output a lot of bass without distortion and the overall sound is exceptional for the price and size...Using as FRONT speakers in my setup...
