I also had a little trouble getting the lid off the carafe when I screwed it on too tight - I had to put a towel over it to get a good grip...Overall, I am extremely happy with this coffee maker...We found it! We can't find enough good things to say about it! Of course it is very stylish looking and it fits nicely on our counter under our standard size cabinets...
