"The Blueridge BG-40 and BG-160 are Chinese-made instruments that are modeled on a National guitar that was made by Gibson in the 1950s...Despite the $300 price difference between the BG-40 and BG-160, both guitars feature nicely shaped (though not highly polished) frets, beautiful sunburst tops, neatly installed tinted binding on their bodies (three-ply on the top, single-ply on the back), and matching rosettes of three-ply binding material...Inside the BG-40 and BG-160 is a similar level of quality, with smoothly sanded and tight-fitting braces, no excess glue where the braces contact the body, and no sawdust or wood debris floating around inside...The BG-40 isn’t as loud or punchy as the BG-160, but it does offer a somewhat sweeter and more vocalized set of mids that makes it a lot of fun to play...The BG-40 and BG-160 are distinctive instruments that go a long way toward bridging the coolness gap between high-end custom guitars and run-of-the-mill production models..." read more »

"I gotta hand it to our Chinese brothers over there, they are doing quite a good job...10 I would definitly look for another Blueridge if mine were stolen...8 The guitar gets the 8 because of the action, slim neck and the tight string spacing, but it would get a 10 but for those things cause the sound is a 10 and that's really what everyone is looking for..." read more »

"he mentioned that he thought they had just reduced the price on the Carter Stanley Br-1060...It had good volume and sounded great when played hard but during soft passages it didn't seem to articulate the fine details as well as the BR's...I can't think of a good word for it..." read more »

"Traditional bracing with solid mahogany back and sides give the BR-140 a pure vintage sound...The BR-140 boasts a sound and style perfect for any style of music...Review of the Blueridge BR-140 in Vintage Guitar Magazine - 10/15/2003...But the frets on the BR-140 are nicely polished and level, with a slight dip in the fretboard after the body joint...single notes were clear, with biting attack, and chords were loud and full, with good projection..." read more »

"heck, it's good with a 3 week old set...I merely said that their culture is much older than ours and they have traditions of craftsanship that have been around much longer than since the time the good ole u s of ayyyyyy was but a dream in lil benny franklin's brain...It was a good deal then at $500 with case out the door new..." read more »

"Onlineguitar.com was my first choice, as their price was the same but they offered to ship this to me faster from their other warehouse in CA (I'm on the West Coast...I have owned my 160 for 2 years, and the sound and sustain have only improved...Its not a big deal but I wish they'd offer it with no pearl..." read more »

"Getting branded by Martin is a good thing in my opinion...If you are going to go with BR, get one with an Adirondack top...The Martin 15 series is where Martins start to get good..." read more »

"That nice experience followed by a try with and later review of the Walden GA570, led me to give a go at one of Blueridge's flagship guitars, the BR-180...This particular Blueridge model, the BR-180, is made in China...They didn't leave anything out presentation-wise and while the Martins are famous for their overall 'plainess', this Blueridge shows what a well made guitar can look like if you pull out all of the stops...But, no matter how beautiful to look at or how well constructed a guitar is, the bottom line is its playability and sound..." read more »
