early-retirement says: Some folks are getting the HD tivo for free and six months to a year of HD programming for free, plus some free movie channels...Lastly, directv will be changing all of their HD product from MPEG2 encoding to MPEG4 this year, so these older units wont record HD from directv after that and will have to be exchanged for a replacement, with a lengthy service commitment...Give me a museum and I'll fill it...see more

dbstalk says: They only carry HR21s, but we can't get our local network stations in HD from DirecTV...First the guy tried to convince me the HR21 did OTA...Got a good person there, knew what I was asking for and why, and that it was better for DirecTV to try to meet a customer's need rather than ignore it...if I could find an HR20 locally, they'd give me a year of HD Access for free on activation of the HR20, and would send me a shipping kit to return the HR21...Warning to anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area: our local installer (Ironwood) isn't getting HR20's anymore...see more
