Inkjet printers are fast, cheap, and can produce photographic quality prints. The downside is the cost of the ink. The quality of replacement ink varies but you can often pick up replacement ink much cheaper from sources on ebay and other third party ink vendors.

"Though Epson doesn't sell the Stylus C84 as a photo printer, it rendered photos on glossy paper surprisingly well...gray-scale photos and color photos on ordinary paper looked a bit blocky and grainy but had good detail...It printed text at 5.2 pages per minute and our test graphics documents at 1.6 ppm, making it faster than most inkjets we've tested to date...The support tray for the paper feed is flimsy and comes off easily, but the paper feed is unnecessary in any case because Epson doesn't provide roll-feeders or other options that would require removing the standard tray..." read more »

"Like the C66, the C86 uses Epson's DuraBrite inks, with a separate cartridge for each color...And they certainly don't look as good as those printed on Epson's own photo paper...The C86 earns an excellent rating for text...Photos fall just short of excellent, and graphics are just under very good..." read more »
