"This may just be my remote, or the Escient remote uses a non-standard frequency...The unit looks good and fits right in your rack with the rest of your equipment...Support for the Powerfile changers Escient created and sold with Powerplay DVD management systems would have been great..." read more »

Reviews: Maybe I am missing something I think the whole point of the VISION is to stream all info digitally to the VC-1 players via Gigabit ethernet...I believe the only reason for there being an HDMI "INPUT" on the back of a VC-1 player is for systems where you may NOT have a VS server, but you could still have control of 1 HDMI Changer via a VC-1 player...If I understand correctly (I may be wrong here) you dont have to have a VS server to build a system, but could instead just opt for VC-1's connected directly to your LAN feeding off a 4 Terabyte VX-600 NAS...Given the way these things are priced, for me, it would make sense to disregard the VS-100 or VS-200 altogether and go for a VC-1 with a VX-600 NAS...

"Their FireBall DVDM-100 DVD and Music Manager has been designed specifically to integrate with the latest generation of super DVD jukeboxes to help identify and organize all of the movies and music stored inside, with a little help from the Internet...Escient's new DVDM-100 drops in between your DVD jukebox and your receiver, with additional connections for a home network, either wired or wireless...The DVDM-100 also supports DVD-Audio and SACD, as long as the connected DVD changer can read them...I was pleasantly surprised to find that the DVDM-100 is compatible with AOL, with an Ethernet port for broadband, too..." read more »

"Audio (CDs) can be transferred to the DVDM-300's hard drive, while DVD changers are necessary for your movies...The DVDM-300 is a sharp-looking component that will easily blend into any A/V system...The DVDM-300 has three modes (like inputs on a receiver): Internet Radio, Music, and Movies...Navigation of the interface is accomplished by the buttons on the left hand side...The DVDM-300 review unit was supplied with both a wireless keyboard and a remote control..." read more »

"At $2,999, the Escient FireBall E-120 isn't cheap, but it's well worth the cost...The E-120 is a 120GB digital jukebox with a 6X CD-RW drive...Unpack the E-120, plug in the audio cables, plug in Ethernet, choose default answers to a dozen setup questions, and enter your local ZIP code...The E-120's rear panel has input and output connectors for TVs and computer monitors, infrared extenders (so you can hide the player in a closet), and analog and digital audio and video..." read more »

"As with other Escient devices, one cannot mix Kenwood and Sony changers...The reason that this would...The Fireball E2-300 is yet another high-tech solution from Escient to the ever-growing problem of media management...Like the other Fireball units, the E2 also has a built-in Internet radio receiver for more increasingly good music choices...The E2 is the same size as other units in the Fireball family, measuring 17-3/8 inches wide by four-and-five-eighths..." read more »

"Records, rips, and plays audio and MP3 CDs; 40GB internal hard drive; high-end design and sound quality; TV-based user interface; receives Sirius Internet...Very expensive; awkward file-transfer software; no wireless networking; no Web surfing....But the unit doesn't support the popular PLS streaming format used by Shoutcast and others...Tell us what you like about this product...Tell us what you don't like about this product......" read more »
