Here are some quick tips when buying Laptop:
- A processor running at 1.8 2.0 GHz is enough for office applications, email and web-surfing.
- Gaming machines should look for 2.4 GHz or higher.
- AMDs Athlon 64 dual core, X2 is roughly equivalent to corresponding Intel Core 2 Duo processors except at the high end where Intel shines.
- Longer battery life usually means heavier laptops, so make your choice based on your mobility needs. You can always buy an additional extended-life battery for the occasional needs.
- With Vista requiring at least 15GB, Office 2007 and other applications even more, then add lots of MP3 files and videos you should get something with at least 80GB

Lower part of tablet screen runs warm, not untouchable though...I'm on my second pen (Gateway replaced the first free), and this one has similar issues as the first, namely requiring and unreasonable amount of physical force for to register a hit (bad for the wrists), spotty contact reliability, and a "jumpy" cursor...Finepoint pen tablet isn't as good as Wacom tablet sensing (Gateway has upgraded to the Wacom table in 2007 models), but livable, if the price paid is less then $1000.00...see more
