"I have downloaded a file that I saw in the hack forum: the file was for a hitachi DV P250 R2V2102...I thought the Hitachi was either a DVP 250E or DVP250U..." read more »
Retrevo's Recommendation: Average Buy for Everyone
"Since there is no Hitachi DVD code listed in the Cinema6 user manual, I suggest simply trying each code there, one at a time...i spend a lot of time on my remote to find this DVD player...Well, one really quick and easy call to the helpline told me that the codes for Hitachi DVD players are 0664 and 0665..." read more »
Retrevo's Recommendation: Older product, look for current models
"Nice remote; MP3 support with random mode; optical and coaxial digital-audio outputs; zoom control....Relatively expensive; poor anamorphic conversion....Hitachi's DVP325U, a standard interlaced DVD player, doesn't have much to distinguish it from the crowd of other like models on the market...The DVP325U has an almost old-fashioned look compared to the slim, smooth offerings from Toshiba and Sony...Users with smaller hands may have to stretch to reach the..." read more »
Retrevo's Recommendation: Older product, look for current models
"I only have region 1 DVDs, but if I use this hack to change the player to region 2, it should refuse to read region 1 discs, right...If someone got it to work, or didn't, feedback would be greatly appreciated, if only to let me know that I'm not alone in this world...I also tried to hold Enter with the tray closed, in case whoever posted the hack meant "turn on the player" on the first line..." read more »
Retrevo's Recommendation: Older product, look for current models
"I have owned this unit [Hitachi DV-P505U (PX)] for over a year and did not realize it was capable of playing MP3s until reading some of the other reviews on this site...The Hitachi DV-P505U player was 1 of only 3 out of 42 current DVD set top players I tried that would play slightly non-compliant DVD-R material I have for testing purposes...All things considered, I was quite impressed with the playability of the Hitachi DV-P505 & I would recommend it..." read more »
Retrevo's Recommendation: You can find better products
"The other review on this product is wrong...Therefore, perhaps the one reconditioned had something wrong with it...So here I am watching all those old John Wayne movies I bought at Wal-Mart but can't play any movies rented at Blockbuster..." read more »
Retrevo's Recommendation: Average Buy for Everyone
"Excellent progressive-scan video performance; zoom mode; solid MP3 support; nice value....Subpar anamorphic conversion; no aspect-ratio control; uninformative display....Like many DVD players, the DVP725U doesn't do a good job of converting anamorphic discs for play on nonwide-screen, nonprogressive-scan TVs...Tell us what you like about this product...Though it lacks some of the fancy features found on other decks, the DVP725U is still a good value......" read more »
Retrevo's Recommendation: Older product, look for current models
"I bought this model and within 2 months it stopped loading discs...This product performed well until it broke down after less than a year of use...Both products had the same issue, which was an inability to load the dvd to begin with..." read more »
Retrevo's Recommendation: Older product, look for current models
"picture quality, sound quality, weight, remote control, physical appearance, brand name, price plastic body As a student I don't have a ton of extra cash at my disposal to blow on all the bells and whistles when it comes to luxury items...That said, I always try to save and make careful purchases of quality brand names with good features for a conservative...BUT IF YOU JUDGE THE BOOK BY ITS COVER, YOU CAN MISS OUT ON THIS FINE MACHINE..." read more »
