"A group of four budget to mid-range receivers is being launched this side of the summer, with a few high-end models due out later in the year...The black finish and boxy shape are par for the course, but Onkyo has made some practical improvements to the front panel arrangement of last year's TX-SR607, making it a lot clearer and easier to use if you don't have the remote to hand...Around the back the SR607 is teeming with connections, and it's particularly generous when it comes to HDMI ports..." read more »

"Great sound; THX Loudness Plus; five HDMI inputs; phono input; Ethernet port; Audyssey MultiEQ calibration system...No multi-channel analog inputs; no digital audio outputs; only one HDMI output...No matter how good a receiver’s remote control might be (the HT-RC180’s is good, but not outstanding), there will always be times when you walk up to the receiver and change settings using its front-panel control...The HT-RC180 falters badly on this point...Our entertainment..." read more »

"But Onkyo's ability to deliver this sort of amazing sound quality at the lower end of the price scale left us tingling with excitement at the prospect of what its high-end models are capable of - and now we've got the chance to find out with the TX-NR906...Most companies would stop there, but not Onkyo - the TX-NR906 is also the world's first AV receiver to feature video calibration facilities courtesy of the Imaging Science Foundation, which allow you to tweak the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and gamma levels on each video input...But audio is the TX-NR906's raison d'être, and on that score it leaves no stone unturned..." read more »

Reviews: model that won't have its warranty honoured up here...When HDMI works properly, it solves a LOT of headaches, the major one being spaghetti wiring behind the equipment rack...In a few years, multiple HDMI inputs and outputs will probably become the norm, with analog I/Os being reduced to a minimum...

"RECOMMEND TX8555 AS BEST BUY IN PRICE RANGE FOR THOSE SEEKING STEREO RECEIVER WITH PHONO INPUTS...I have a perfectably good equalizer, but there is no way to connect it to the ONKYO...At least I won't have to worry about heat buildup! Overall, I am happy with this receiver..." read more »
