"Since the SA-AX7 isn't recent, I'm hoping someone who has one or had one can lend me a hand in fixing this...I'm using the associated decoder that came in the SA-AX7 bundle for two audio sources: a Playstation 3 (that serves as a DVD/BD player) and a digital TV receiver...The decoder is then connected via 6 analog cables to the SA-AX7...1) In Dolby Pro Logic mode (mostly from playing CD / streamed audio on the PS3), I get no subwoofer output...The subwoofer is in standby mode (ie, it gets powered on when it receives a signal and turns off after about 10min of inactivity..." read more »

"Awesome power reserves, high-quality finish and electronic components throughout, and of course SOUND QUALITY! No Dolby Pro-Logic II or 6.1 and 7.1, no preamp outputs, runs very hot...This review is updated* At First glance: Okay, one reason why I bought this receiver was because the look...The champagne-gold finish was a real eye catcher, and the aluminum front panel contributes to its vintage styling..." read more »

"I give it 4 stars overall because there are a lot of nice newer models with desirable features that the 1040 doesn't have like 7.1, Dolby Digital 2, or THX certification...Clean sound, Good features, plenty of inputs, good power Remote died after 4 months, poor online customer support, heats up quite a bit I have owned this receiver for about 3 or 4 years now...Yes it does heat up a good amount and i overload it quite a but but thats because i beat the crap out of it all the time..." read more »

"Tremendous clean power, excellent Dolby Digital decoding, very good FM reception Additional audio inputs would have been a plus I guess it was time to go Dolby Digital...great decoding, good reception, sound comes out great Pretty much none, but it's a Technics This is absolutely the best time to go digital, prices are low, you could get a great deal, and this is one of the best choices on the market...It is well designed with a good display that......" read more »
