Digital cameras with large optical zoom ranges let you snap that close up of the action from up in the stands. Don't be fooled by large digital zoom numbers since they don't produce very satisfactory results.
"Relatively fast; good HD video; raw file support....Big; quirky interface; some image artifacts....Would you pay as much for a megazoom as you would for a dSLR...Because the SX1's body is matte black plastic, rather than the reflective graphite of the SX10, the light blue labels are easier to see...More annoyingly, the camera lacks a dedicated toggle between the LCD and EVF...Overall, the SX1 delivers excellent performance, especially for a category notable..." read more »

"Good build quality
Extensive manual functionality
Easy to use/ great interface
24x w/ great image stabilization
Tilt screen
Good macro performance...Image quality could be better
ISO performance subpar
Night mode could be better...The P90 looks almost identical to the P80, and has similar dimensions and weight - 83 x 114 x 99 mm and 400 grams...Although an old model, the picture quality on the Sony, I thought was far better than the P90......" read more »

"The Canon SX20IS follows up last year's SX10IS model - itself an update of 2007's popular long-zoom S5 IS model...The Canon SX20's body is nearly identical to that of its predecessor, the only noticeable changes being to the screen-printed labels where a feature change has necessitated a different label...The Canon PowerShot SX20 combines its twelve megapixel sensor with a 20x optical zoom lens, which offers the range from a useful 28mm wide angle to a whopping 560mm telephoto...As the "IS" in the SX20's name would suggest, it includes Canon's Image Stabilization technology, helping fight the effects of blur from camera shake - absolutely vital at the longer focal lengths...One further change of note is that where the SX10 offered only standard definition NTSC / PAL video output, the Canon SX20 also includes a high definition HDMI connector..." read more »

"I bought the Fuji S1500 just for fun and as a spare camera and I must say that I'm a little dissapointed by the image quality...But I think the Canon SX110IS is the better choice because it is only a little more expensive, but has almost the same zoomrange, has a very good picture quality and also a manual mode (see the test here on trusted reviews...I took my S1500 out during night and tried...As a fair conclusion I would like to say that I love my S1500 and take with me everywhere just as a pet..." read more »

"The FinePix S200EXR incorporates technology that appeared earlier this year in Fuji's F200EXR, another camera that gets generally good reviews for image quality and low light performance...The FinePix S200EXR is a feature-rich camera and we've barely scratched the surface with brief shoots last night and today about midday, principally using the aperture priority mode I'm fond of...While the camera is not very quick to power up, once ready to go autofocus acquisition times have been OK and shutter lag is good..." read more »
