If anyone is able to get compiz working and have good video playback please update in this thread...After selecting "X Windows System (No Xv)" in video properties my videos played but looked really bad (real player 1998 bad) and Miro still would not work...At this point I could record audio from the Sound Recorder with the built in mic but it was way too loud and distorted so play with the recording...

I have just bought a Acer Extensa 5610 (similar to 5620, 4210, 4220...The other thing I have noticed is screen flex...Also does anyone know if there any programs that will really stress the laptop to see if it cuts the mustard, I was thinking run SiSoft Sandra for a few hours to see what happens...

I researched the latest acer sold with XP and downloaded from that models drivers...My best suggestion is to download all the drivers you will need from their website (when its working), format drive, reinstall OS, and reload drivers...I'd say this around average for close to bargain basement...
